Meadview Ranger Station

The National Park Service is seeking public comment on the proposed construction of a new ranger station located in Meadview, Ariz. The Park Service will be preparing an environmental assessment to evaluate the potential impacts associated with the new development.

The area's existing ranger station along the main road through the Meadview community was previously a private residence that was acquired by the National Park Service in 1979. While the converted private residence has served as the temporary ranger station for the last ten years, it is no longer considered appropriate for park operations. The current proposal is to remove the old residence and construct a new building to serve as a ranger and visitor contact station. The proposal will be discussed by a National Park Service representative at a public meeting at the Meadview Community Center on Feb. 5 at 10:30 a.m.

Comments and recommendations concerning the scope of the environmental assessment, the issues it should cover, the alternatives to consider, and other resource concerns will be accepted through March 29, 2010.
