Project Location: This project is located at the Visitor Center of Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument, which is 20 miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona.

Background: The existing Sunset Crater wastewater system consists of one (1) 6,000 gallon septic tank, which is undersized. The sewer system is regularly plugging and solids have been passing through the septic tank and clogging the distribution box.

Project Description: This project will replace the existing septic tank and drainfield. The contractor will remove the existing septic tank, manholes, and gravity sewer. The contractor will install one (1) 12,000 gallon septic tank, one (1) 6,000 gallon septic tank, a pump tank w/ a duplex pump system with instrumentation and controls, approximately 610 LF of 4" and 6" gravity sewer, approximately 230 LF of 2-1/2" sewer forcemain, and 1440 LF of drainfield chambers with 1-1/4" PVC laterals. All the sewer structures removed will be disposed of at an approved location.
