The National Park Service, Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park, will undertake work at Brunswick and Point of Rocks regarding boat ramp improvements. These projects were analyzed in 2005 for impacts to park resources and people.

In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, the "Access Improvements to Point of Rocks, Brunswick, Fifteen Mile Creek, and Monocacy Aqueduct Draft Environmental Assessment, March 2005" was released for public review March 17 - April 15, 2005. A Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) was signed on August 1, 2005.

In accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act, The Maryland Historical Trust was consulted regarding Section 106 review of the project for any adverse effects the project could have on historic properties. On May 26, 2005, the Maryland Historical Trust determined that the project would have not adverse effects on historic properties.
