The park proposes to construct a new auxiliary curatorial storage facility at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area to house large historic objects including wagons and furniture. These items are currently being stored in various inadequate facilities within the park, including facilities in poor condition. To minimize the deterioration of objects, and to consolidate the collection, the park proposes to construct an approximately 2,000 square-foot, one-story auxiliary curatorial storage facility within the park directly behind the current Bushkill Curatorial Storage Facility (Bushkill School) which will provide sufficient storage space for the collection of large objects as well as appropriate climate controls and security systems. The building will also be constructed to seek Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification through the U.S. Green Building Council.
This document will be used for compliance with both the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969, as amended and the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966, as amended to provide the decision-making framework that 1) analyzes a reasonable range of alternatives to meet project objectives, 2) evaluates potential issues and impacts to the park's resources and values, and 3) identifies mitigation measures to lessen the degree or extent of these impacts. No significant impacts are anticipated as a result of this project.
