Draft Spiny Water Flea Spread Prevention Plan

Spiny water fleas have recently invaded two of the large lakes within Voyageurs National Park (Rainy Lake and the Namakan lake). Spiny water fleas have not been found in the park's interior lakes and action is required to prevent the spread of the species to the interior lakes. For this reason it may be important to control several kinds of spiny water flea transmission vectors into the interior lakes, including landing of air planes, portaging of private watercraft, and the use of aquatic live bait.
