Wawona Sierra Nevada Research Institute Field Station Generator Installation

Wawona is subject to numerous power failures each year, and because some of the failures last up to several days, a propane powered generator is needed at the UC Merced field station. It will be installed by UC Merced maintenance personnel and will ensure continuous power to computers, freezers, and other sensitive equipment necessary for UC Merced research operations. The unit will be powered by the current propane tank. There will be no ground disturbance. It comes with its own base and will simply be placed on the ground at the rear of the building. Conduit to the electrical panel and gas lines will be run through the crawl space of the building. The electrical panel will be installed next to the current circuit breaker box on the west side of the building. Specifications for the unit and photos with drawings will be submitted with this proposal. All expenses, including unit purchase and installation (about $10,000), will be covered by the university.
