This project will remove the chlorine gas used at this facility. The contractor will have a storage area at the Water Treatment Facility Parking area. The existing gas chlorine cylinder scales, gas chlorine detector, wall mounted gas chlorine injector, tubing adapters and four (4) liquid chlorine lines will be removed. A temporary hypochlorite feed system will be installed and will be fully functional during demolition and construction. The temporary system will be decommisioned after the new permanent system is installed, tested and commisioned. The temporary disinfection system will be confined to the interior of the water treatment plant. Structural modifications will include a new single leaf door and frame, four (4) new hypochlorite metering pumps will be attached to the interior wall and stainless steel drip pans placed under each one, new liquid chorine lines will be intalled along the interior walls. The south wall will be cored for piping and an emergency eye wash and emergency shower station will be installed near the south/west interior wall. Drum scales will be installed along with a digital weight read out panel. All demolition and construction will take place within the interior of the non historic building.
