A Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) has been issued for a project to expand the patio at the Encore Circle facility.

In 2006, the park identified a need to expand the existing patio on the south side of Encore Circle, to accommodate the number of visitors who use the facility. The park prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The EA evaluated five alternatives for the proposed project for their impacts on the park's natural and cultural resources, operations, and visual setting. The preferred alternative identified in the EA was to construct a 30 x 30 ft. flagstone addition to the patio, employing a seasonal tent for weather protection, similar to the tent already used on the existing patio.

The NPS fully evaluated the information and analysis contained in the Environmental Assessment. The EA was open for comment from February 27, 2007 through March 31, 2007. No requests for copies were received, and no comments were received from the public. On the basis of all these considerations, the NPS determined that the EA adequately and accurately addressed the environmental issues and impacts of the proposed project. The implementation of the preferred alternative, as described, would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment within the meaning of Section 102(2c) of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. Accordingly, the FONSI was signed on April 2, 2007.
