Valley Fire District Station Construction/Expansion

Cuyahoga Valley National Park » Valley Fire District Station Construction/Expansion » Document List

The Valley Fire District (VFD) has requested the use of National Park Service (NPS) land in Cuyahoga Valley National Park to build a new fire station. The VFD needs to expand their current facility and cannot do so at their current site due to septic concerns and private property restrictions. The NPS owns land in both communities that support the VFD: the Village of Peninsula and Boston Township. The VFD requires approximately 4 acres of land near Peninsula, outside of historic districts and floodplains, with easy road access and appropriate soils for septic systems.

An environmental assessment (EA) was prepared to analyze the alternatives and assess the impacts of granting this request. A Finding of No Significant Impact was signed on 11/23/2005.
