Frontcountry and Visitor Use Plan for Ross Lake National Recreation Area and State Route 20 Corridor

The National Park Service is initiating a planning effort to improve visitor circulation and experiences in developed areas of the park and evaluate the function and location of park facilities, while protecting the parks resources. The National Park Service Organic Act directs the National Park Service to preserve and protect park resources for the use and enjoyment of current and future generations. In the past two decades, visitation to Ross Lake National Recreation Area has doubled; in 2019, the park recorded 1 million visits. Increasing visitation and the topographic constraints of the park will require careful planning that allows the park to continue welcoming visitors while protecting resources and improving experiences.

Park staff want to hear what you value most and what strategies and tools you think will help them ensure visitors have meaningful visits and park resources are protected, even as visitation increases. The park invites feedback from current and potential visitors, local communities, affiliated Tribes with cultural ties to the land, as well as other agencies and stakeholder groups.
