Proposed Joshua Tree National Park Amenity Fee Increase

Joshua Tree National Park » Proposed Joshua Tree National Park Amenity Fee Increase » Document List

Joshua Tree National Park strives to make overnight camping and interpretive tours memorable and enjoyable experiences. The Federal Lands and Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA) authorizes the NPS to collect and retain revenue in the form of entrance and amenity fees and requires that these funds be used to enhance visitor experiences like camping and interpretive programs. This act also dictates that amenity fees at National Park Service (NPS) units must be comparable to fees charged by other nearby service providers.

In order to remain in compliance with FLREA, the National Park Service is proposing to update the camping and Key's Ranch Tour fee schedules at Joshua Tree National Park. These proposed updates are based on the prices of comparable public and private service providers within the vicinity of the park.

The proposed fee increases would take effect on January 1, 2025 and would, at that time, appear on www.recreation.gov as the published rates. The NPS is seeking public input on these proposed increases to camping and tour fees at Joshua Tree National Park.
