Operation Plan for ENREMA, LLC Smarsh Project within the Clear Creek Easement of the Obed Wild and Scenic River

Obed Wild and Scenic River » Operation Plan for ENREMA, LLC Smarsh Project within the Clear Creek Easement of the Obed Wild and Scenic River » Document List

The purpose of this Environmental Assessment (EA) by the National Park Service (NPS) was to evaluate the Energy Resource Management, LLC (ENREMA) proposal to continue developing its mineral rights within Obed Wild and Scenic River (Park) while protecting and preventing an impairment to park resources, allowing for a safe visitor experience; and to determine whether an Environmental Impact Statement should be prepared.

The EA disclosed to the public the potential impacts of two practicable alternatives on park resources and values. The Park used the EA to guide its decisions about ENREMA's activities, ensuring the protection of park resources and values, prevention of impairment through the use of best management practices, and compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local laws, while allowing ENREMA to develop its mineral rights in the Park.

The public comment period for the EA was July 1 - 30, 2021.

On March 7, 2024, The NPS South Atlantic-Gulf Regional Director approved a Finding of No Significant Impact and conditionally approved ENREMA's proposal.
