In August 2008 we sent you a copy of the general management plan for Monocacy National Battlefield and asked for your comments. At the time we noted that the review period would end 60 days following the publication of a Notice of Availability in the Federal Register.
Due to some unforeseen complications and a change in administration, the Notice of Availability did not get published last fall. It will appear in the Federal Register May 1, 2009. The National Park Service has been accepting comments, and will continue to accept comments, until June 26, 2009.
If you have been putting off sending us comments, we still want to hear from you. An open house June 4, 2009 at the Visitor Center, 5201 Urbana Pike, will allow an additional opportunity to learn about the alternatives in the plan.
If you have already provided comments, we appreciate the time you have taken to help us plan for the future of Monocacy National Battlefield. If you have additional comments, it is not too late to provide them.
