Recent geohazard event frequency and magnitude impacting the Denali Park Road have highlighted the need for additional planning. Safety and road resilience concerns may require monitoring and/or repairs at any of the more than 140 unstable slopes identified along the 92-mile Denali Park Road, as well as new sites as we identify them.
The resulting Preliminary Response Plan (Plan) provides efficient compliance with existing laws and policy while addressing challenges with the Denali Park Road. The suite of recommended actions in the Plan could be used in the field to maximize road resilience, safety, and protection of park resources prior, during, or following a geohazard event.
