Page-LeChee Water Supply Project Environmental Assessment

Glen Canyon National Recreation Area » Page-LeChee Water Supply Project Environmental Assessment » Document List

This Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) has been published (12.10.09) by the National Park Service. The FONSI is the final compliance document for the Page-LeChee Water Supply Project Environmental Assessment (EA).

The FONSI is issued subsequent to the EA, which analyzed alternatives related to the project. Substantive comments received on the draft EA during the public review period are addressed in the Errata Sheets attached to the FONSI.

The National Park Service has selected the Proposed Alternative from the EA for implementation. This alternative best meets the purpose and need for the project, as well as the project objectives to (1) increase the dependability of the water supply system for the City of Page and Chapter of LeChee, (2) provide redundancy so that the system is less susceptible to service interruptions, and (3) add capacity to the system to meet current and future peak demands. The selected alternative will reduce potential environmental consequences through the implementation of specific mitigation measures designed to minimize potential effects and allow for maximum conservation of resources.

The approved plan will provide a high level of protection of natural and cultural resources while concurrently attaining the widest range of neutral and beneficial uses of the environment without degradation; maintain an environment that supports diversity and variety
