Washington Circle Pedestrian Improvements

During 2011-2012, the District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT) will reconstruct and resurface New Hampshire Avenue from Virginia Avenue to Dupont Circle, and resurface 22nd Street and K street, N.W. As a part of this project, DDOT proposes to rehabilitate US Reservation 26, also known as Washington Circle, a National Park Service (NPS) managed property. The purpose of this rehabilitation is to improve pedestrian and motorist safety while preserving the features of this historic park. In order to address the pedestrian-related safety and flow issues, DDOT will re-engineer the curb alignments, handicap ramps, crosswalks, and signals external to the circle, as well as the sidewalks within the circle.
