Glacier Point Satellite Dish Installation

Yosemite National Park » Glacier Point Satellite Dish Installation » Document List

DNC proposes to attach a 14" x 18" dish, including a winter heating element, to an existing wood shed located near the Glacier Point receiver system to improve parkwide television reception. The satellite dish and extension pole will be attached to the wood shed with welded brackets. The dish and pole wil be positioned on far side of shed as possible to minimize visibility from the visitor area. Both the pole and dish will be painted brown and obsolete equipment will be removed as part of the project. The dish will provide six channels rather than four as currently exists. News programming will come from Fresno rather than the San Francisco Bay Area. Networks to be broadcast include: ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, NPR, PBS and a Fresno station. Federal Communication Commission permits are unaffected by the change and radio service will remain unchanged.
