Residential Fence for Building #705 in the El Portal Administrative Area, Rancheria Housing

Yosemite National Park » Residential Fence for Building #705 in the El Portal Administrative Area, Rancheria Housing » Document List

The project involves the installation of a fence in the residential backyard of building #705 (9757 River View Lane) in the Rancheria Flat housing area in the El Portal Administrative Area. This residence is occupied by park employees who have requested park approval to install a fence that would improve conditions for their dog. Because the fence would be personal property, it will be removed at the time the employee vacates the housing unit at an undetermined time in the future. Installation of utilitarian fences (such as dog fences) occur throughout the park's residential areas and are typically compatible with the residential nature of the neighborhood.

The fenced enclosure, rectangular in shape, will be installed on the eastern side of the house, measuring 35 feet by 32 feet, and will be constructed using t-posts and mesh (approximately 102 linear feet) that will require minimal ground disturbance to support 13 t-posts that measure 2 inches in diameter placed six inches deep. The fence will be connected to northeastern and southeast corners of the house using six 1/2-inch diameter eye hooks total. The hooks will be screwed 1 inch into vertical siding that was installed during 2009 repairs to the building. The fence would be constructed of pre-fabricated metal mesh that is roughly 5 feet high.
