The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site Proposed new Entrance Fee

The National Park Service proposes increasing the entrance fee to the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site. In May, 2017, the NPS received direction that all parks not aligned with their designated fee group must begin civic engagement to raise fees to compliance by 2018. The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site is aligned in Fee Model Group 2.

NPS Fee Model:
Group 1: Annual Pass = $30; Per Vehicle = $15; Per Person = $7; Per Motorcycle = $10
Group 2: Annual Pass = $40; Per Vehicle = $20; Per Person = $10; Per Motorcycle = $15
Group 3: Annual Pass = $50; Per Vehicle = $25; Per Person = $12; Per Motorcycle = $20
Group 4: Annual Pass = $60; Per Vehicle = $30; Per Person = $15; Per Motorcycle = $25

If approved after civic engagement and public comment analysis, the entrance fee will be raised from $9.00 for a per person ticket to a $10.00 per person ticket in January, 2018. Fee revenues are a critical fund source for the Home of FDR, with 100 percent of fee revenues staying in the park to improve facilities, infrastructure, and visitor services.
Our federal partner, the National Archives and Records Administration (FDR Presidential Library) plans an increase of $1.00 in its entrance ticket slated for that same date. The two destinations are co-located, share most of the same visitors, and sell a joint ticket to the FDR Home and Presidential Library. It is important for the mutual success of the two destinations and the convenience of our visitors that we cooperate in our fee structure and operation.
The proposed new entrance fees would increase as follows, from:
$9 to $10 per person at the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site.
$18 to $20 per person joint Home/Library ticket at the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt and FDR Presidential Library/Museum.
The price will remain unchanged for the America the Beautiful National Parks Annual pass ($80) and the Lifetime Senior Pass ($80). Military and Access Passes will remain free and may be obtained at the Visitor Center.

"We are committed to keeping the park affordable but we also want to provide visitors with the best possible experience, improve facilities, and infrastructure" said Larry Turk, Superintendent of the Roosevelt-Vanderbilt-Van Buren National Historic Sites.

The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site is a strong economic engine for the surrounding area. In 2016, more than 193,000 park visitors contributed 11.3 million to the local economy and supported 153 jobs related to tourism.

The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site will hold a public meeting at the Henry A. Wallace Visitor Center on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 6:00 pm to discuss the proposed fee increase.
