Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park is proposing to waterproof the foundation walls and improve drainage around the Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center.

The project will waterproof foundation walls and upgrade the foundation drainage system at the 1935 historic Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center. For the last five years, the theater in the basement has been forced to close several times due to flooding after heavy rain events. The flooding has increasingly become worse and more consistent over this past year, causing irreversible damage to the flooring and wall materials. If the flooding continues, the basement area, which includes an auditorium, museum exhibits and public restrooms will be deemed unsafe for use by the visitor and park staff.

The park proposes to waterproof the foundation and improve rain water management and drainage at the building.
