Phase I Earthworks Management Plan Implementation Project

The park desires to implement designed repairs to the British/Confederate Earthworks located in the vicinity of the Yorktown Visitor Center. In 2014 a contractor was hired to design repairs based on the Earthworks Management Plan that was developed in 2011. Phase I of the plan focuses on repairing social trails, damage from erosion, and construction of a snake-type wood-rail fence around the original earthworks to prevent visitor access to this resource. In addition to fencing, signage will be developed and installed at strategic locations to educate the public about preserving the earthworks and to explain why they are fenced off.
