Assateague Island National Seashore » Proposed Increase in Camping Fees » Document List

In accordance with the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act of 2004 and National Park Service policy, the National Park Service (NPS) is soliciting public comments on a proposal to increase the camping fees at Assateague Island National Seashore. Recreation and user fees are retained by the NPS, and at least 80% of fees collected at Assateague Island National Seashore are used for in-park projects such as improving and maintaining visitor facilities and restoring natural habitats.

The National Park Service routinely conducts market research to ensure that park fees are comparable with similar services and markets in the local area. Based on a recent assessment, the NPS is proposing increases in the fees charged for camping at the Seashore. Please see the associated document on this site for a complete description of the proposed camping fee changes.

The National Park Service encourages feedback from the public to help us gain a broad perspective and make well-informed decisions about how to proceed with proposed changes. Should you wish to provide us with your thoughts, you may do so by using the commenting capabilities of this web site.

We appreciate you taking the time to assist us in preserve Assateague Island National Seashore

Sincerely,

Trish Kicklighter,
Superintendent
