Indian River Pedestrian Bridge Replacement

Sitka National Historical Park » Indian River Pedestrian Bridge Replacement » Document List

This project proposal is to remove and replace the existing 115 foot arched, laminated wood, free span pedestrian bridge over Indian River. This bridge is approaching 50 years and approaching the end of its design life. Both bridge abutments and center piers need extensive repairs for concrete delaminatiion and erosion damage due to scouring. The project would include work to make the bridge ADA handicapped access compliant with a raised boardwalk on the north bank. A large dead Sitka Spruce hazard tree snag would be taken down and removed from the river bank.
