The National Park Service, Chesapeake and Ohio Canal NHP, held a 2011 Canal Pride work session at the McCoy's Ferry Campground on April 16, 2011. The majority of the work included routine maintenance activities, such as replacing fire rings and grills, painting picnic tables and railing, and spreading stone dust throughout camping areas. In addition to these routine activities, new campground posts were installed to better delineate individual campsites. Two extra parking spaces for the group campsite area were created.

The park's Interdisciplinary Team reviewed the project for impacts to natural and cultural resources. The project does not pose any serious or long-term effects to the environmental, historical, cultural, archeological, or visual resources. It meets categorical exclusion #C.3 – Routine maintenance and repairs to non-historic structures, facilities, utilities, grounds, and trails.

The project also meets the National Historic Preservation Act/Section 106 Programmatic Agreement, Streamlined Review Criteria #5 – Routine Grounds Maintenance.
