Catoctin Mountain Park is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate a range of alternatives for the proposed rehabilitation of the existing swimming pool, bathhouse and walkways at Camp Misty Mount. The Environmental Assessment will analyze alternatives to replace the existing swimming pool with one that is slightly larger and is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The pool pump house will be redesigned to upgrade the circulation and chlorination system while preserving the historic character of the building. Bathhouse improvements will focus on meeting ADA standards, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiates. Walkways surrounding the bathhouse area will also be redesigned to allow for improved accessibility in and around the facility. Fencing currently surrounding the swimming pool will be removed and replaced with one more historic in nature. These facilities were last updated in 1950 and 1969 respectively, and have exceeded their life expectancy.
