On June 9, 2020 the National Park Service published a final regulation for hunting and trapping on national preserves in Alaska to establish better consistency with the state. The rule removed regulatory provisions issued in 2015 that prohibit certain hunting practices that are otherwise permitted by Alaska.
The NPS has determined that this rule will not have a significant economic effect on a substantial number of small entities under the Regulatory Flexibility Act (5 U.S.C. 601 et seq.). This certification is based on the cost-benefit and regulatory flexibility analyses found in the report entitled "Cost-Benefit and Regulatory Flexibility Analyses: Proposed Revisions to Sport Hunting and Trapping Regulations in National Preserves in Alaska," revised on October 18, 2019.
