Grind out stump of silver maple planted in 2008 and cut down in 2016 in Block 11, Lot 4

Lincoln Home National Historic Site » Grind out stump of silver maple planted in 2008 and cut down in 2016 in Block 11, Lot 4 » Document List

A small silver maple had been planted in 2008 to replace a large maple tree that had died. This was done prior to the current Cultural Landscape Plan (2015) being in place. The new tree split during a storm in 2016 and was cut down to the ground. The stump is still in place. A new stump grinder has been acquired by the park which will use this small stump as a practice project prior to removing stumps between the visitor parking lot and Visitor Center. This stump was chosen as a test because it is small and over 90 feet from the pedestrian walkway used by visitors.
