Lincoln Home National Historic Site » Repair and Paint Exterior of Allen Barn, Robinson Storage Shed and Dean House Outbuilding » Document List

This project will consist of repairing and painting all 1,725 square feet of exterior surface area on the historic Allen Barn (HS-21). This building was last painted in fiscal year 2008 and is past its life cycle to be painted. Entire structure is made of rough sawn cedar. Repairs will be made as needed to the exterior of the structure. All surfaces to be painted will be prepared for painting by sanding and scraping. Two coats of exterior stain will be applied by brushwork to the entire structure in white to match existing paint color. In addition, all 736 square feet of the exterior of the Robinson House Storage Shed (S-07), which is attached to the Allen Barn, will be repaired and painted. This structure was last painted in 2010, therefore painting in 2020 will keep this structure on a routine 5-7 year painting schedule. Repairs and replacement of rotten boards will be made as needed to the rough sawn cedar before surface is prepped and stained, matching existing paint color. Finally, all 356 square feet of the Dean House Outbuilding/Laundry Shed (HS-13A) will be repaired and painted. The Dean House Outbuilding was last painted in 2013. Repairs will be made to the structure as needed, surface will be prepared for painting by sanding, and entire structure will be painted with 2 coats of exterior latex paint. Surfaces to be painted include: all siding, 1 window with shutters and trim, and 1 door with trim. Paint will match existing, which matches the Dean House (HS-13) siding color.
