The National Park Service has released an environmental assessment (EA) on proposed improvements to facilities at Log Cabin Resort, a concession-operated resort on the north shore of Lake Crescent.

The document is available for a 20-day review and comment period here on the project planning website. Comments may be submitted directly on this site, by clicking on "Open for Comment" and following the links to review the document and submit a comment. Comments will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9.

The EA analyzes the potential impacts of multiple actions including replacement of eight guest cabins and a manager's residence, construction of accessible restrooms and pathways, and paving of access roadways and parking areas within the resort.

"The proposed improvements are part of our ongoing commitment to upgrade and modernize the facilities at Log Cabin Resort," said Olympic National Park Superintendent Sarah Creachbaum. "Visiting the resort is a multi-generation tradition for many families, and we look forward to providing improved access for both day and overnight visitors."

Since 2011, Olympic National Park has made numerous improvements to the facilities at Log Cabin Resort, ranging from replacement kitchen fixtures, new signage and accessibility upgrades to the RV and tent camping area. New docks were installed last spring, improving area safety and providing an accessible boat launch for kayaks and canoes.

The Log Cabin Resort is managed by ARAMARK Parks and Destinations under a concession contract with the National Park Service. Log Cabin Resort offers overnight accommodations and RV camping, food and beverage service, a general store, non-motorized boat rentals, and related services on the north shore of Lake Crescent.
