Approximately 13 smaller caliper trees (4-5 inch DBH) are located within the foundation. Additionally, smaller woody vegetation is also present, many growing within the masonry joints.
The project will be undertaken by park volunteers and staff. Volunteers will use hand tools and be supplies with necessary personal protective equipment. Park staff will supervise the volunteers and supply support assistance for any vegetation that needs power tool cutting.
Upon removal of the vegetation, visitors will be able to have a better view of the ruins and park staff will provide interpretive information regarding the occupation of Lockhouse 52 and the operation of Lock 52.
