This project will replace approximately 25,000 ft. of 1/0 underground electrical wiring in the Round Spring area via commercial contract. The existing 7200 volt primary underground electrical system in the Round Spring area was installed in 1975. The park has been notified by the manager of engineering of the Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative that the primary line will fail in the imminent future. This situation could cause the park to be without electrical service for an extended period. The primary line is a special order and is not stocked. The electrical system serves the public water and wastewater systems, as well as numerous other public use facilities including emergency services, housing, visitor facilities and the like. Frequent failures and power outages are occurring at this time and in discussions with the electrical cooperative, the primary line no longer is viable for further repairs. The loss of power in this areas poses a major health and safety threat to park visitors and employees and would require the park to shutdown the area affected by the lack of power.
