Remove dying elm tree in front of Walters Lot (Block 7, Lot 15) and replace with native street tree
Lincoln Home National Historic Site » Remove dying elm tree in front of Walters Lot (Block 7, Lot 15) and replace with native street tree
An American Elm located on the verge between sidewalk and street in front of the empty Walters Lot is dying and dropping large branches. This project will have the tree cut down by a professional tree service to the ground. Park staff will grind out the stump. A native street tree like an elm cultivar or thornless honey-locust will be planted approximately 2' north to maintain the historic line of trees along the street. If left alone, the tree will continue to drop large branches onto the pedestrian walkway, the closed street, and could possibly fall into an historic house nearby (Beedle House, HS-12).
