Add directional boring for internet conduit from Edwards St. to Corneau House (HS-02)
Lincoln Home National Historic Site » Add directional boring for internet conduit from Edwards St. to Corneau House (HS-02)
Conduit throughout the park is too small for the increased communication and internet needs in the park. New conduit will be added from the intersection of Edwards and 8th Streets, under the boardwalk area, into the Corneau House (HS02) to decrease the risk of impacting unknown and unexcavated archeological sites. This will serve as the main connection to the park. Because of the need to go under potential archeological sites, the suggested depth of boring is 3'. City-provided conduit exists under Edwards Street to provide the main connection, and the park's main junction box is in the Corneau House basement, to provide the connection to the rest of the park.
The bore pit will be approximately 2' square and will be located partially in 8th Street and Edwards Street. It will angle slightly NW to go under the boardwalk on the west side of 8th Street and will be bored north to the Corneau House, entering the basement through the east foundation wall. The foundation is poured 12" thick concrete and was poured in 1999. A conduit hole already exists but may need to be slightly widened. Park staff will hand-dig from the directional boring line into the Corneau House.
Once the directional boring is completed, direct burial fiber optic cable will be run through the lines. The bore pit will be filled in with the dirt that was removed to create the pit and patched with asphalt where needed.
