Public Planning for Chimborazo Visitor Center and Grounds
Richmond National Battlefield Park » Public Planning for Chimborazo Visitor Center and Grounds
Richmond National Battlefield Park's portion of Chimborazo Park is slated for capital improvements, exhibit upgrades, and new outdoor waysides beginning in 2026. For decades, the park's interpretation has focused on Confederate medical history between 1861-1865. But with new scholarship and public input, the park plans to expand the narrative to incorporate more untold stories that predate and postdate the Civil War.
This multi-year process will be more equitable and inclusive with community participation. The public is invited to one of two public planning sessions: Saturday, November 16, from 12:30-2:30 p.m at Roundhouse at Chimborazo Park, 3215 E. Broad Street or Thursday, November 21 at 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Robinson Theater Annex at 2900 Q Street.
This site will capture additional feedback from those who are unable to attend or who have more to say following the meetings.
