Remove dying Siberian Elm tree and Crabapple bush from behind equipment storage area for storage expansion

Lincoln Home National Historic Site » Remove dying Siberian Elm tree and Crabapple bush from behind equipment storage area for storage expansion » Document List

A dying Siberian Elm tree, listed as Fair in the 2017 Lincoln Home Tree Report, and an overgrown Crabapple bush will be removed from the area behind the current equipment storage area in the NE quadrant of the park. This area is outside the cultural landscape and serves as a buffer to the historic zone of the park only. The storage area will be expanded in FY2025. The tree and bush are in the area of expansion and need to be removed. The tree is starting to drop large branches, creating a safety hazard for staff using the storage area. Both will be cut down to the ground but will not have their root balls ground out due to the plan to cover the area with concrete. The trees will not be replaced.
