The objective of this project is to provide accessible exterior use areas from point of arrival throughout the visitor experience to the greatest extent for all persons. Work accomplished will be to improve accessible route from south parking area to ascend to the Visitor Center plaza, renovating pavement and gradients around the Visitor Center for improved accessibility. Replacement of publicly accessed wooden boardwalks, including street right of ways, the Lincoln Home, Arnold House and Dean House, with improved accessible pavement systems. Removal of loose aggregate surfacing within 8th and Jackson Streets, two existing alleys, including alley parking spaces, and construct new rigid pavement. Work shall also include creating accessible transitions at current vertical curb barriers. Existing mechanical lifts and ramps to three publicly accessible houses shall be replaced in-kind or by alternative solution.
