The Peace Corps Commemorative Foundation proposes to establish a permanent memorial commemorating the founding of the Peace Corps and the ideals on which the Peace Corps was founded. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the NPS and the Peace Corps Commemorative Foundation are preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) to identify potential sites and design guidelines for the memorial and to assess the potential impacts from the overall proposal. Concurrent to the NEPA process, the NPS and the Peace Corps Commemorative Foundation will conduct a consultation under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (NHPA).
