Preliminary Alternatives Public Comment Report

To inform the public of the range of preliminary alternatives and provide an update on the planning effort, a newsletter was released on August 14, 2014, that describes the draft goals and desired conditions for each fundamental resource and value, management strategies and contextual maps for each preliminary alternative, an update on data collection efforts, and next steps in the planning process and schedule.

As part of this process, the public was asked to share their thoughts on management strategies contained within the preliminary alternatives as well as for additional thoughts or ideas. Comments received have been collected, read, and analyzed. The Preliminary Alternatives Public Comment Report presents what was heard during the public comment period. Summaries of public comments are organized within the nine management strategy categories that were presented in the preliminary alternative newsletter. After each summary, representative quotes directly from the public comments are presented.
