Consultation under the National Historic Preservation Act

On July 23, 2019, the National Park Service initiated consultation with the Arizona State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) and the 11 associated tribes of the Grand Canyon on this Telecommunications Plan in accordance with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) regulations, 36 CFR Part 800 Protection of Historic Properties, and the National Environmental Policy Act. A second consultation letter was sent to the SHPO on December 4, 2019 to share the assessment of effect, environmental assessment, and a draft Programmatic Agreement.

Attached are the letters sent to the SHPO, along with enclosures. Please note that the second letter, dated December 4, included the EA and all appendices as well as communications received from two tribes. The EA is available elsewhere on this project website and communications from the tribes have not been included here.
