Record of Decision: Plan for Protecting and Restoring Native Ecosystems by Managing Non-Native Ungulates

The National Park Service (NPS) is pleased to announce the release of the Record of Decision (ROD) for the Plan for Protecting and Restoring Native Ecosystems by Managing Non-native Ungulates at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.

The ROD documents what the decision is, identifies the other alternatives considered and the environmentally preferable alternative, discusses the basis for the decision, lists measures to minimize environmental harm, and briefly describes public and agency involvement in the decision-making process. The non-impairment determination for the selected action, which is required by NPS Management Policies 2006, is also attached to the ROD.

This Record of Decision was signed by the Regional Director of the National Park Service's Pacific West Region on April 1, 2013, completing this important planning effort for the park.
