Wrangell-St. Elias Wilderness Character Narrative


There are five qualities that uniquely embody the wilderness character of Wrangell St. Elias wilderness: untrammeled, natural, undeveloped, solitude, and inhabited. Among protected areas worldwide, Wrangell St. Elias combines both immense size and outstanding wilderness qualities to comprise a unique wilderness character that stands alone. This document, written by park and regional staff in 2013, describes these wilderness qualities for the park.
