Yellowstone YCC Campus Plan EA Scoping Notice

Yellowstone National Park is considering a proposal to update the existing Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) facility at Mammoth Hot Springs to better achieve the park's environmental education goals as well as to comply with modern standards for health, safety, accessibility, and sustainability.

The existing YCC facility was built in 1978 and is no longer adequate to meet the park's environmental education goals. Under consideration is a plan to rehabilitate or replace the current YCC facility with an
updated campus specifically designed for providing youth environmental education programming in a residential setting.

Environmental education programs for young people, like YCC, are among the efforts which receive
significant financial support from the Yellowstone Park Foundation, the park's official fundraising partner.

An Environmental Assessment will be prepared in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. The park is reaching out to the public, asking them to share their comments, concerns, and ideas which will be used to aid in the development of a range of alternatives as part of the planning process.

Comments may be submitted online at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/YouthCampus, hand-delivered during normal business hours to the mailroom in the park's Administration Building in Mammoth Hot Springs, Wyoming, or mailed to Compliance Office, Attn: Youth Campus, P.O. Box 168, Yellowstone National Park, WY, 82190.

Comments will not be accepted by fax, e-mail, or in any other way than those specified above. All comments must be received by midnight MDT, September 26, 2014.
