George Washington Memorial Parkway Proposed Recreational Fee Rate Increase at Great Falls Park

The George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) is requesting public comment on a proposal to increase the park's entrance fees at Great Falls Park for the first time in nine years. Great Falls Park was incorporated into the George Washington Memorial Parkway in 1966, and remains one of the most highly visited sites in the park, and a popular recreation spot in the greater Washington Metropolitan Area.

The proposed fees fall within group one of a new National Park Service standard fee rate schedule released in September 2014, and are consistent with other smaller national parks with similar legislation.

Current and proposed rates:
The 3-day pass for vehicles, motorcycles and pedestrians will be increased to be valid for 7 days. Vehicle passes will increase from $5.00 to $15.00; Motorcycle passes from $5.00 to $10.00 and pedestrian passes from $3.00 to $7.00. The park annual pass will increase from $20.00 to $30.00 through the calendar month purchased the following year.

Please include your full name and address and/or email address with the comments so we may add you to our mailing list for future notices about this process. Please share any ideas or suggestions for projects or programs you think may be good candidates for use of fee dollars.
