Kennedy Center Expansion Project Assessment of Effects

The National Park Service (NPS) and National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC), in cooperation with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Kennedy Center), are conducting consultation under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act to identify and consider historic properties that might be affected by the Kennedy Center Expansion Project and to identify measures to avoid, minimize, and mitigate adverse effects. Section 106 consultation was initiated with the D.C. Historic Preservation Office on July 12, 2013. In coordination with Section 106 and concurrently, the agencies are preparing an Environmental Assessment in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act to identify alternatives and assess the potential impacts associated with the project.

In accordance with the requirements of Section 106 and its implementing regulations, 36 CFR Part 800, an Assessment of Effects report has been prepared in order to consider potential effects of the project to historic properties.
