Draft Statement of Findings for Wetlands for the Morefield Maintenance Area

The National Park Service has released for public review a Draft Statement of Findings for Wetlands (SOF) for a maintenance facility in the Morefield Canyon area of Mesa Verde National Park. The SOF was prepared according to the guidelines outlined in National Park Service Procedural Manual #77-1: Wetland Protection (Reissued January 2012).

It is the intent of the park to mitigate the incremental damage that has occurred over several years to a small natural wetland (about 1/3-acre) next to the facility by constructing a self-sustaining wetland in a more secure location about 1/2-mile to the south.
