Public meeting and comment period-Pennsylvania Avenue Plan- May 29, 2013

The National Park Service (NPS), the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC), US General Services Administration, and the District of Columbia invite you to attend an informational public meeting to discuss a master plan for long-term management of Pennsylvania Avenue. We are conducting this planning effort to ensure the continued use of Pennsylvania Avenue as the nation's "Main Street," where inaugural parades, civil rights marches, and state funerals occur, and where nationally significant people and events will be commemorated in the future. The need for the plan is to address current problems and concerns about the management and maintenance of Pennsylvania Avenue and its connections to the city. The plan presents alternative approaches for providing amenities for visitors, residents, and workers as well as ways to streamline management so that the Avenue can achieve its significance and purpose.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at NCPC's offices, 401 9th Street, NW, Washington, DC. During the meeting, the project team will discuss alternatives and the public is invited to learn about the plan and provide input to help inform the pending Environmental Assessment and consultation under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

NPS will accept written comments on the proposal at the meeting and via this website from May 15 through June 13, 2013. Meeting materials are posted below. See "document list" for additional background information.
