2012 Public Scoping Newsletter - Arlington County and Vicinity Non-Motorized Boathouse Facility EIS

George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP), is seeking public input on preliminary alternatives to be considered in the Arlington County and Vicinity Non-Motorized Boathouse Facility Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The EIS will assess the impacts of the proposed siting and construction of a public facility for non-motorized boats on the Virginia shoreline of the Potomac River in the vicinity of Arlington County. Project staff have prepared a newsletter, available for download below, describing the EIS process and preliminary action alternatives.

Preliminary alternatives include four possible site locations within GWMP. Two proposed sites are downstream of the Key Bridge, one proposed site is near Gravelly Point and the 14th Street Bridge, and one proposed site is on Daingerfield Island. The boathouse facility and its amenities would enhance public waterfront access in the vicinity of Arlington County for non-motorized recreational activities.

The public comment period is now open and will conclude on September 30, 2012; to solicit public comments on the proposed boathouse facility and preliminary alternatives. Written comments can be submitted electronically on this website.

Written comments may also be mailed to the address below. Mailed comments must be postmarked by September 30, 2012.
