Lake Roosevelt NRA Vacation Cabin Environmental Assessment

The National Park Service (NPS) is evaluating the effects of issuing Special Use Permits for twenty-six existing private vacation cabins at Lake Roosevelt NRA. These cabins are a special park use, and our decision to issue or deny Special Use Permits for the use of these cabins flows from the appropriate compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

This Environmental Assessment (EA) analyzes whether the use of vacation cabins at Lake Roosevelt NRA is compatible with the NPS mission of protecting park resources and providing for the enjoyment of the general public. The EA is now available for public comment.
A formal 45-day review period will take place between February 23 and April 8, 2011. A Vacation Cabin Environmental Assessment open house will be held on March 15, 2011 at the Kettle Falls WA, Visitor Center between 5-7 pm.

Individuals or organizations wishing to provide written comments during the review period can submit them in one of three ways: electronically on the park planning website, in person at the open house, or by mail no later than May 6, 2011.

The role of the public in this process is very important during the projects public scoping period. You are encouraged to submit comments, to ensure that all of the issues identified are adequately addressed.
