Finding of No Significant Impact for Abandoned Mine Lands Safety Installations Keane Wonder Mine Complex Mine Openings

A Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the implementation of safety options at the Keane Wonder Mine in Death Valley National Park (the park) is available for download. The purpose of this project is to mitigate human and environmental hazards present at the park.

The NPS selected Alternative B for implementation, which includes the installation of safety features at the Keane Wonder Mine using American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds. Alternative B was described in detail in the environmental assessment (EA), which was available for public comment from February 19, 2010 to March 19, 2010. There were no modifications or revisions to the proposal due to public comment.

There were some changes to the text of the EA based on new information. These text changes and responses to public comments were incorporated into Errata for the EA, which are included as an appendix to the FONSI.
