Harry S Truman Birthplace SRS Newsletter 1 April 2010

The National Park Service was directed by Congress to study the Harry S Truman Birthplace in Lamar, Missouri for possible inclusion as a unit in the national park system, as an addition to the Harry S Truman National Historic Site based in Independence, and study other possible options. This newsletter briefly describes the history of the Harry S Truman Birthplace as well as the Special Resource Study process, and includes our preliminary study timeline.

The study team will consider the significance, suitability, and feasibility of the site, as well as several management alternatives, in making a determination about Wolf House as a potential new unit. With the help of your observations, insights, and questions at public meetings and in written comments, we can shape a study that reflects the concerns of the community and interested parties.
